In May 2003, the first-ever “Women in the Winner’s Circle” event
took place in Indianapolis. Its purpose was to celebrate the achievements of
women in motorsports – both behind the wheel and behind the scenes. It was the
first time a large group of women race car drivers and technical experts were
brought together in one place at one time to share their thoughts, their
challenges and their incredible enthusiasm with leaders in the motorsports
industry and the community.
Because that first year was so successful, “Women in the
Winner’s Circle” has become a highly anticipated annual event. This year, it has
been moved to August to tie in with the Brickyard 400 and USAC events. But our
goals remains the same: to celebrate the achievements of women in motorsports
and to help prepare the way for future opportunities in motorsports.
