The
Women in the Winners Circle Foundation was founded in December of 1993. It's a 501
(c) 3 non-profit educational organization that focuses on worldwide activities
and programs for automotive safety and driver development, especially for women
who aspire to become race car drivers. The Mission of the Women in the Winner's Circle Foundation is to
provide leadership, vision, resources, and financial support in order to create
an open environment for women's growth in automotive fields. To date we
have trained over 150 women drivers from 38 states and two countries through our
driver development program and contributed to Girls, Inc., the Wilbur Shaw Soap
Box Derby Hill in Indianapolis, and other charitable organizations; we have also
donated numerous autographed items for various charities around the world.

Lyn St.
James: In Her Own Words…
Advocacy. That’s been
the keyword for the Women in the Winners Circle Foundation during the past two years.
Through our actions, we have been dedicated to being advocates for women
in the motorsports industry, particularly women who aspire to the
professional level in racing.
In 2002-2003, the Foundation has provided support through several
significant and proactive programs and activities:
1) Our
“Checkered
Flag for Learning” program, the
educational arm of the Foundation.
2) Our
Driver Development Program,
which provides invaluable experience to aspiring drivers.
3) Our
Ongoing Commitment to Diversity,
through which we seek to educate the industry and the
public on the
benefits of diversity within sports, especially motorsports.
4) Our
“Women in the Winner’s Circle”
program, an annual event that celebrates the success of
women in
racing and helps them build stronger ties with each other and the
motorsports
community.
Within the Biennial Report, we will provide brief reports on each of
these areas. We will also feature just a few current success stories of
the women in racing – some of which we’ve played a direct part in; some
of which we’ve indirectly supported; all of which are positive steps
forward.
The Women in the Winners Circle Foundation remains dedicated to continuing to train,
advocate, and educate for diversity in racing until “opportunity” and
“diversity” are no longer concerns – they’re just taken for granted.
Our ability to support these activities relies, in great part, on your
willingness to support the Foundation through financial and other
contributions. It takes a great deal of money to operate these programs
to their full potential. And we thank those people, organizations and
corporations who have provided support
in the past.
Now, we’d like to ask, once again, for
your support. As you
read the stories in this publication, pleaseconsider how you can assist
us in our mission. Then, please help us continue building the momentum
for women in racing.
We need you! We need your
support!
Warm regards,
